Why did the Lizard cross the road?

I was driving home this afternoon and spotted a rather large Eastern Blue-tongued Skink basking on the road, so stopped for a few photographs.
Getting closer shows the detail of the scales a little better.
Sometimes you get really lucky and can prove it has a blue tongue!
To answer the question in the title of this post: it didn't.  Rather, it got fed up with the clicking of me trying to get a better shot of tongue and moved, quite briskly, back from whence it came!
